China Engineering Construction Welding Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Association") was established in 1984. Its Unified Social Credit Code is 5110000050001410XB. Its English name is the China Engineering Construction Welding Association, abbreviated as CECWA. The Association is a national, industry-specific social organization voluntarily formed by engineering construction enterprises engaged in welding technology, social groups, scientific research and design institutions related to welding technology, universities and colleges, as well as technical experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs. The Association was officially decoupled in March 2016. Its former competent business unit was the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Its registration authority is the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the Party-related work of the Association accepts the unified leadership of the Central Social Work Department. In October 2024, the General Offices of the Central Social Work Department and the Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a joint document clarifying that the primary industry management department for the Association is the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. In 2023, it was rated as a 4A-level social organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The Association's registered office is located in Beijing. Business Scope of the Association:

In accordance with relevant national policies and regulations, and considering industry characteristics, the Association establishes an industry self-regulatory mechanism, regulates industry conduct, and guides the healthy development of the industry.

As authorized, it conducts industry statistical surveys, researches and analyzes industry operational status, and collects, organizes, analyzes, and publishes domestic and international welding technology and economic information; tracks and understands domestic and international market dynamics and industry development trends, conducts timely market forecasts and predications, provides information services for the industry and members, and offers suggestions for the government in formulating industry policies and plans.

It participates in the research of economic, technological policies, laws, and regulations related to welding and related technical fields; tracks and studies the implementation of development policies, laws, and regulations in welding and related technical fields, and timely reflects the opinions and demands of the industry and enterprises to government departments.

Entrusted by government departments, it participates in the formulation and improvement of technical skill level evaluation and assessment methods, and organizes the evaluation of comprehensive welding quality management achievements and the appraisal of technological innovation achievements.

It establishes a group standards system for engineering construction welding, organizes research and formulation of relevant group standards; participates in the research of national, industry standards and technical specifications in welding and related technical fields, and promotes the internationalization of China's welding standards.

It strengthens the development of the welding practitioner workforce, establishes and improves the vocational education and training system for welding practitioners, and comprehensively enhances the quality of welding practitioners in the engineering construction sector. Subject to review and confirmation by government departments, it carries out level evaluation for welding practitioners.

In accordance with relevant regulations, it organizes and conducts vocational skills competitions for welding practitioners in the engineering construction field, creating conditions for outstanding welding technical and skilled talents to stand out, and promoting the development of the welding practitioner workforce. It actively supports and organizes welding and related practitioners to participate in international competitions such as the WorldSkills Competition.

It organizes and carries out work including welding technology development, technical exchange, and technical consulting services; publicizes new developments in welding technology; exchanges experiences in welding construction and management; and builds information exchange platforms for industry and enterprise development.

It actively promotes the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals, guides the industry and member units to apply clean and efficient welding technologies, achieves green production, promptly summarizes experiences, and promotes them within the industry.

It strengthens exchanges and cooperation with welding organizations and relevant institutions in international contexts, as well as with those in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions of China.

It undertakes matters assigned by the government and accepts entrustments to provide relevant specialized services.

Adhering to the philosophy of "leading innovation, focusing on service," the Association has been organizing industry skills competitions since 1993. It has long undertaken the task of organizing the national-level competition, the "National Engineering Construction System Vocational Skills Competition," which has become a domestic brand event. The annual "National Engineering Construction Welding Forum" and activities such as the evaluation of comprehensive welding quality management achievements have enhanced exchanges and cooperation among enterprises from different industries, continuously improving the levels of welding materials, welding equipment, and welding techniques used in China's engineering construction.

The Association conducts exchanges and cooperation with industry associations and related institutions from multiple countries and regions. It has organized multiple technical exchange delegations to countries such as Japan and South Korea, and has sent teams to participate in skills competitions in countries like Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Since 2000, the Association has followed the activities of WorldSkills International. Since China joined WorldSkills International in 2010, the Association has served as the lead training management department for the Welding and Construction Metal Work projects. It has also nominated its leaders and experts to serve as the Expert Group Leaders for these projects. The welding competitors trained under the Association have achieved remarkable results for the Chinese delegation at the WorldSkills Competition, including winning the "first medal," the "first gold medal," the "first consecutive championship," and a "three consecutive championships."

The Association currently has 764 members (including 636 corporate members and 128 individual members). It has 15 branch offices, 2 representative offices, and over 30 authorized welding training centers.
